New Venue: THE BANK.

We are delighted to be hosting Defender of Skellig in THE BANK, which is part of The Digital Hub campus.

The Bank is a repurposed former Bank of Ireland building. Originally built in 1853, it was originally known as the Dublin Savings Bank or Saint Jame’s Gate Bank. It was later used as the Guinness Brewery visitors’ waiting room. It even gets a mention in Ulysses where James Joyce refers to “Mr. Kernan turned and walked down the slope of Watling Street by the corner of Guinness’s visitors’ waiting room.”

The Bank is located in the heart of The Liberties, one of Dublin’s oldest and most historical districts. In medieval times, Dublin City was walled for protection and administration. The Liberties area is so-called because it lay outside the city walls. Today this historical area is one of Dublin’s most colourful and creative communities.

Defender of Skellig athletes will compete in a stunning space naturally lit from an impressive overhead skylight window. The space is also fitted with acoustic damping to remove echo and reverb.

Other facilities include high speed WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

This single arena tournament will build on the success of our 2024 event. As Ludosport Ireland continues to evolve we are thrilled to be able to host a 2 day event in The Liberties.

From the entrance of our venue, athletes can look through the Guinness Brewery arch as we compete in the center of Dublin’s historic brewing district.

We look forward to welcoming new friends and old, back to Dublin for Defender of Skellig 2025!
